What is LOHAS Square?
A platform for sustainable living
LOHAS stands for Lifestyle-Of-Health-And-Sustainability. LOHAS runs like a thread through everyone’s life, and the choices we make can reduce our dependency on fossil fuel and make us a more sustainable society.
Nature / Objectives
LOHAS Square is organized by Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, Tai Po Environmental Association and The "Star" Ferry Company Ltd. It is a platform to inspire, network and engage communities to implement transition initiatives to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil and Climate Change, the two toughest challenges facing humankind at 21st century. It also aims at developing an interactive urban public space which enhances local, social, environmental and economic resilience to further sustainable development in Hong Kong.
Content
The space will host a weekly local fair-trade platform that bridges and encourages mutual support between consumers and local NGOs, social enterprises, self-employed artists & organic farmers for environmental services and products. It also serves as a public education platform to promote a Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability (LOHAS).
